Businesses to dedicate more spending towards social media marketing within 2012.

With the New Year quickly approaching, businesses and marketers are planning for 2012 and making a decision on what areas they are going to dedicate their resources towards.  A survey conducted by SrongMail.com, showed that more than half of businesses will be increasing their marketing budget in 2012.  Marketing areas that spending will increase include email marketing, increase of 60%, and social media channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, with an increase of 55%.

While marketers aim to obtain new customers, engaging existing or old customers will be key to building brand awareness in 2012.  Businesses are looking to build customer loyalty while also building awareness.  This is most easily obtained by using social media and it will be interesting to see the increase of businesses use of social media within the New Year.
