Using the Holiday Season to Leverage Your Social Media

As the 2011 Holiday Season quickly approaches, you can provide your business with different great opportunities to leverage your social media fan base and help increase sales.

–          Small Business Saturday is November 26th.  Run a campaign for this day offering special discounts on your products or services.  Try having a raffle for people that come into your store that day, giving away a great prize in a random drawing.  You can also provide special coupons available this day only.

–          Black Friday is this week.  Promote, promote, promote your business by offering special discounts on this day only.  Give a discount to Facebook Fans only, requiring they mention a special code when purchasing.

–          Promote a charity during the Holiday Season.  Commit to donating money to your local charity, animal shelter, woman’s shelter, etc.  For example you can promote that your business will donate $1 for every new “Like” on your Facebook Page.  This will help you gain more fans on Facebook, while connecting with your community in a positive way.  Of course the donated money is tax deductible and most important the donation will help those who really need it this year.

–          Run contests and promotions to encourage fans to Like your Facebook Page or Follow you on Twitter.  For example you can have a photo contest, encouraging people to submit a themed photo and offer a grand prize to the winner.

It is a great idea to partner with other organizations to help get your business name and information out to other groups of people.
